Reflector has been a fundamental piece of the existence of Greenville, Pitt County, and eastern North Carolina for over hundred years. The organization was established in 1882 by David Jordan Whichard and Julian R. Whichard, who purchased the printing hardware from the owner of The Express, for whom they once worked. Moving the hardware into their mom's one-room school building, the siblings started their own week by week paper, The Eastern Reflector. In 1885, David Jordan Whichard became sole proprietor and distributer of Reflector, starting everyday distribution December 10, 1884.
