About Pulakos Chocolates

The story of Pulakos Chocolates begins in 1889, when founder George P. Pulakos began selling his carefully crafted, handcrafted sweets from his home and from the cart he drove through the streets of Philadelphia. In 1903, he moved to Erie, where his passion for making Old World chocolates with the freshest ingredients around led him to open the first of his three stores on the town's bustling State Street. In 1916, Pulakos Chocolates housed his flagship store in a beautiful building at 926 State Street. The location served as the base of operations until 1971 and inspired him to incorporate its addresses into their brand names, providing thousands of people with a one-of-a-kind experience.
