About Performing Arts Workshop
Committed to helping young people learn and grow through art, Performing Arts Workshop is a non-profit organization established in 1965 to help young people develop critical thinking, creative expression and basic learning skills through art. Today, Performing Arts Workshop provides more than 4,200 students aged 3-18 with step-by-step artistic guidance based on inquiry and reflection. Their artists perform 11-60 internships in world dance, music, spoken poetry, and theater arts. To promote equity in education, they give priority to working with communities that have fewer art education resources. The Workshop has been commended by the California Senate and Parliament four times, and twice by the San Francisco City Government in recognition of its contribution to youth.
