Olde Colony Bakery is the oldest family-run bakery in the historic Charleston area. Since the late 1940s, they have been proud to share the rich southern heritage and unique lowland specialties with tourists and locals. The Ricks family, including son-in-law Jim, has owned the company since 1990. In August 2000, to meet customer needs, their bakery moved to a larger factory in neighboring Mount Pleasant. In 2013, Olde Colony Bakery expanded a larger building on Mount Pleasant. In 2000, Phil's parents bought his company, Phil began to help them, and moved to the kitchen to do full-time work.
