Midi-Hits.com, based in silicon valley, California, began development in 1989, when Midi technology was still in its infancy. In the early days, the only standardization was the file format itself (SMF standard MIDI files). This means that the file can be used on both PC and Mac computers. Meanwhile, Roland, Yamaha, Alesis and other manufacturers have their own proprietary formats - different from each other. Therefore, calling a saxophone on one unit may be calling a guitar on another octave on another guitar. At first, Midi Hits operated through mail order and advertising in music-related magazines. With the development of the Internet, Midi Hits became the first music company to offer music as a direct download. Customers can order and download immediately, rather than waiting for an E-mail to send their order. In addition, Midi-Hits.com invented the "checkout" shopping cart technology.
