Luminato Festival is an international arts festival that was started in 2007 by David Pecaut and Tony Gagliano. It is a festival that focuses on big, bold contemporary works of art that go beyond the traditional boundaries of music, dance, theatre, and visual art. Luminato works at the intersection of artists, spectators, and city spaces to produce once-in-a-lifetime experiences that highlight the very best of their city, region, and country. It was initially established to assist Toronto in rebuilding following the SARS epidemic. A festival that welcomes people from all over the world to Toronto is held every June by Luminato Festival. Over the course of its first ten years, Luminato established itself as North America's premier international arts festival with more than 3, 600 performances by more than 15, 000 artists from forty different nations.
