Gardens is a group of people who love gardens and want to share their incredible plant collection, as well as traditional and contemporary garden experiences and design. Gardens was established in March 2004 as a Trust of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture with the goal of promoting the best of New Zealand's gardens and horticulture. It has developed a method for evaluating all gardens and providing visitors with information that accurately reflects their experience there. When gardens apply for membership, they are evaluated once every three years. A group of eight dedicated Trustees, assisted by a part-time Manager, oversee the Trust. The current board of trustees' information can be found here. The Trust's members are garden owners and managers of both private and public gardens who welcome visitors.
