Kootenai River Inn is locally owned and operated and managed by the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho by Hagadone Hospitality, Inc. They have been a source of economic revival and pride for the Kootenai Tribe since the hotel as well as the restaurant and recreation center opened in 1986. Kootenai River Inn over the years many upgrades and changes have been made. A complete renovation in 2005 added a luxurious spa and transformed the interior to include river rocks and running water to tell their tribal story. In 2013 the Kootenai Tribe, under the leadership of Tribal Chairman Jennifer Porter, authorized a larger investment to build the Kootenai Falls Lodge and expand it with 36 oversized guest rooms.
