About Iroquois Amphitheater
The historic Iroquois Amphitheater is the official amphitheater of the state of Kentucky. The Arena is a 2,400-seat disabled theater that hosts a variety of performing arts and cultural events in Iroquois Park, including concerts, celebrations, movie nights, community events, and more. Operated by the City of Louisville and the Louisville Department of Parks and Recreation. Iroquois Amphitheater was built in the spring of 1938 by labor from the Federal Works Promotion Agency. The facility has been the pride of South Louisville for decades. In 2000, Louisville Parks and Recreation began an ambitious modern facility project. The refurbished it provides additional opportunities for the highest quality arts entertainment such as more restrooms and an upgraded stage while maintaining the historic spirit of the facility.
