Dave needed a solution for driving stepper motors to create complex foam shapes to support his hobby of radio-controlled airplanes. This solution evolved into the original HobbyCNC product, the 3ADBK board. After several iterations, the product has developed into a more general stepper motor driver board, still facing the hobbyist market-low cost, self-assembled.
