About HaymarketBooks
HaymarketBooks main goal is to distribute books that add to battles for social and financial equity. They want their books to be an active and natural part of social movements as well as the education and growth of a critical, involved, and internationalist Left. Their namesake, the Haymarket Martyrs, who gave their lives in the name of a better world inspire and motivate them. Workers all over the world are reminded that ordinary people can organize and fight for their own liberation by their 1886 struggle for the eight-hour day that led to May Day, the international workers' holiday. HaymarketBooks has published more than one hundred titles since their founding in 2001. Profoundly free, they try to drive a wedge into the gamble opposed universe of corporate book distributing.
