About Engelheim
Engelheim vineyards focus on growing high-quality grapes to produce the highest quality wines. Their goal is to bring all the glory to God while merging their German descent and Appalachian homeland. They also hope to commemorate the original residents of Cherokee. In 2007, the owners Gary Engel and Jan Engel and their families decided to buy the land now known as Engelheim (German Angel House). In 2004, Colonel Engel retired from the army, and after returning from Iraq and Kuwait, they decided to realize their dreams, living in the mountains of northern Georgia and planting the highest quality grapes. The Engel family planted the first vines in 2009 and harvested the first grapes in 2011; since then, the store vineyards have been strong.
