About Dakota Steakhouse
For more than 37 years, Dakota's Steakhouse has been a staple of eating in downtown Dallas. Dakota Steakhouse inhabited by the First Dallas Baptist Church, its peculiar underground location has an intriguing tale that adds to its distinctive history. A stipulation in the deed forbade any subsequent owner from selling alcohol on the old church premises. The proprietors were set on having a restaurant serve as the focal point of their global headquarters when they purchased the property. The land was dug and the restaurant was built once it was realized that the phrase "on the ground" did not include the phrase Dakota Steakhouse. Customers enter the restaurant from the street level and take a canopied glass elevator 18 feet down for a dining experience unlike any other.
