About CMTA
With a vision of a world where patients with CMT neuropathies have therapies available to them to manage or modify their disease, CMTA’s research is done in teams consisting of academic centers sponsored by the CMTA (STAR members). Their vision is poised to become reality as STAR pushes the research forward at an ever-increasing speed. Incorporated in 1983 in Pennsylvania as a federally recognized charity after been founded by Dr. Howard Shapiro, their goal is to support the development of new drugs to treat CMT, to improve the quality of life for people with CMT and ultimately, to find the a cure. Due to the founder being a patient with CMT, they always strives to make a world without CMT. Their Treatment & Management includes Bracing, Genetic Testing, Hearing Loss and CMT and so on.
