In 1958, Belmont Studios opened in downtown Birmingham. Nick and Christine Cottis, a young couple, began their career photographing senior portraits throughout the state of Alabama. In the early 1970s, a decision was made to relocate to Vestavia due to the business's expansion. At that time, Doug, the business's son, joined and added a full-service photo lab, allowing the studio to fulfill orders internally. The company's subsequent expansion necessitated the move to its current Pelham location in 1996. The 8, 750 square foot studio is currently run by the third generation of the Cottis family. There are 23 people working at Belmont Studios, including 7 staff photographers. Since 1958, the company's top priority has been providing affordable, high-quality photography year after year.
