Barbershop history and performance best practices, barbershop is a style of arrangement, divided into four parts, in harmony; It is not a period, musical style or genre. The melody is usually the second part, which is in harmony. The arranger harmonizes each melodic note with a small number of dials or diphones and creates more harmonic motion by adding secondary dominant chord progression. The baritone section works in a unique way, filling in the missing notes in each chord. Barbershop's publishers use three main sounds :SSAA for higher, SATB for medium and TTBB for lower. Because Barbershop is a cappella and the voice is very harmonious, teachers and singers may find it very helpful to adjust the pitch to suit your voice. However, do not raise or lower one of the pitches by an octave, only raise or lower all the sounds, preferably not more than a quarter.
