Allsports, headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, has owned and operated there since 1972.Blaine and Michele Atkins, the owners, and their employees follow the tradition of exceptional sales and customer service founded by Blaine's father, Ron Atkins. Clay Avenue's original store, Allsports Tennis and Things, was born out of necessity. Ron, an avid tennis player, has seen a growing demand for tennis rackets and shoes. Even before the first little store on Clay Avenue, RON threaded rackets in his garage and sold tennis shoes from the trunk of his car. The store followed the tennis boom of the 1970s and the popularity of emerging brands such as adidas and Nike. By 1974, the store had moved to the first Fayette shopping center, and in 2010 the store opened its current spacious 12,000-square-foot space in the Fayette shopping center.
