About Wort Hotel
Wort Hotel was inspired by its owner, Charles j. Wort, who arrived in Jackson Hole in 1893. Jackson, Charles and his wife, Luella, recently went out to claim Wort Hotel’s two sons. John in 1900 and Jesse in 1903. In 1917, Charles purchased four sites in downtown Jackson, Wyoming. For seven years, the land was used as a horse farm, adjacent to a bloody horse stable. From 1932 to 1940, the wort family operated what is now the signal hill lodge in grand Teton national park. By selling the facility, the family financed the construction of the dream; A luxury hotel in downtown Jackson, Wyoming.
