It's hard to believe that 157 years ago, the Wayne county agricultural association became a charter organization that laid the foundation for Wayne County Fair as they know it today. In 1862, the first task was to find enough land for the event and enough customers. He bought 22 acres of land along the Dyberry river and began construction on a half-mile track. In 1902, the exposition overshot the speed track and moved its events to a larger grandstand. Eventually, the stand would be expanded again in 1931 to accommodate 2,000 customers, 60 concession stands, motor racing, livestock RACES and concert events. Over the years, Wayne County Fair has received nearly 100,000 visitors each summer and continues to be a family tradition that brings food and fun to the farm!
