About Trae Crowder
Trae Crowder was born and raised in rural Celina, Tennessee, close to the Tennessee/Kentucky border. He went to Tennessee Tech, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2008 and an MBA. In 2009. He was the first person in his family to earn a college degree. With his wife, Katie, and their two young sons, he moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2010. In 2017, they moved to Los Angeles. Trae Crowder stated in an interview with MSNBC's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell in May 2016 that his abject poverty as a child in rural Middle Tennessee was a major factor in his progressive social beliefs. Another significant factor was his close relationship with his gay uncle. Crowder stated that he had never personally been particularly down with Jesus due to the conservative social views on homosexuality held by the majority of Christian denominations, particularly in the region where he was raised.
