About Smith Creek
In his yacht, founder Wayne Smith, a native of California, travelled to New Zealand 25 years ago while fishing his way across the South Pacific. Wayne started creating his line of high-end fly-fishing equipment since he was a devoted fly fisher with a knack for creativity. This line eventually formed the Smith Creek foundation. These foundational design principles from ten years ago are still valid today. Wayne finally decided to retire in 2020 so that he could spend more time fishing. Robert Brown, a longtime business ally of Wayne's, received ownership of the Smith Creek brand. It was a logical step for the brand since they had already worked closely with Wayne for years on the creation and production of their products.
