About Service Dogs
Service Dogs, which was established in 1988 by attorney Sheri Soltes, creates improved lives for Texans who have overcome obstacles by partnering with specially trained Assistance Dogs that are provided at no cost. Partnering with a working dog can help disabled people and wounded veterans gain more independence. It can also help abused children gain a voice in court. It gives their first responders a healthy way to handle the stress, trauma, and grief they handle every day while keeping them safe. It gives abandoned and unwanted dogs and career-change dogs new lives of love and service. Service Dogs adopt dogs from rescue groups and animal shelters. Other organizations' career change dogs are also adopted by them. Mix- and pure-breed dogs, as well as mixed breeds, are chosen for their temperament. Only positive reinforcement is used in their training methods.
