One of the most famous engines is the former Southern Pacific Railroad 5399. The 5399 was built in 1955 by EMD, the electric division of General Motors as model SD9. The locomotive was operated by the Southern Pacific Railway until it was sold to private ownership in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, the locomotive was cleaned and repainted in its original South Pacific livery known as the Black Widow paint scheme.
