Sacanime policy has always been to offer top-notch entertainment at a reasonable cost in a fun, secure, and family-friendly environment. Their quarterly Comic, Toy, and Anime Show (SAC-CON), which has been held in Sacramento since July 1, 1986, served as the basis for the creation of SacAnime. SAC-CON has expanded to include all forms of pop-culture entertainment, with an emphasis on anime and manga, from its initial focus on comic books. In 2004, the manager of Walden Books' Sunrise Mall location approached them about putting together an anime show for the mall. They gave it a shot, always willing to plunge headfirst into the water without knowing how to swim. As a result, SacAnime was born on the last weekend in July 2004. They brought SacAnime to the Scottish Rite Center, which is where Sacanime is held, in January 2005. With over a thousand fans in attendance, it was a huge success.
