About Rize Up Sourdough
Rize Up Sourdough is a black-owned bakery in San Francisco that is expanding quickly and focuses on reimagining and rethinking the standard sourdough. During the social unrest that resulted from George Floyd's assassination, Rize Up Sourdough was established as a means of channeling energy into something that could be healing. In the spring of 2020, their story began as a home-based quarantine sourdough project that quickly evolved into a micro bakery. Rize Up has outgrown Azikiwee's backyard ovens within a year, and their path has no end in sight. Azikiwee Anderson, the company's founder, was overcome with a desire to make a difference and, hopefully, encourage young Black bakers to think outside the box. Azikiwee, a black baker, believes that representation is really important. They must be the change they wish to see. They want to spread the love for thoughtfully baked, delicious breads made with organic, sustainable, and naturally leavened high-quality ingredients.
