Some people think they are art galleries in the United States; others think it's a real trading post, reminiscent of the past, but everyone will leave there with the same thing, it's an eternal experience . Ray Hillenbrand founded Prairie Edge concept in the early 1980s with two main purposes: to educate the public and to protect the heritage and culture of the Indians of the Northern Plains. Prairie Edge is located on the corner of Sixth Street in downtown Rapid, and is two stories high and stretches for half a block. Brick, wood and glass stores have returned to the glory of the 19th century. Indoors, hardwood floors and polished cabinets are reminiscent of the spirit of the Old West, while the unique scent of sage and sweet grass and the soft sound of the Lakota flute evoke the mystery of the Great Plains Indians.
