About Oughton
Oughton, a busy mother and competitive hunter/jumper who found herself hauling to riding lessons, clinics, and horse shows, came up with the idea for the brand. She thought there had to be a better way to travel independently and efficiently with all her gear after making a lot of trips between the barn and trailer. Fashion became her medium of expression, and her equestrian heritage served as her inspiration. The end product was a custom rolling bag that was based on a traditional tack trunk. It was made by hand in Argentina out of waxed canvas, leather, and halter fittings. A saddle, bridle, boots, brushes, tall boots, helmet, and the kitchen sink could all fit inside the roomy trunk-like one-trip bag, which was also light, stylish, and (upwardly) mobile. Oughton grew into a luxury leather and waxed canvas line over the years.
