About Oak On The Green
Oak On The Green is situated at Bearsted, close to Maidstone, on one of the prettiest parks in England. The earliest reported notice of the bar is an understanding between Daniel Birkman, a distiller, Thomas Buffield and Christopher Longley, a noble man of Bearsted. Mr Longley was paid £200 as far as; 'that message or apartment not known by the signe of the Oak On The Green, one steady, two nurseries, one plantation, one piece or bundle of land having a place containing assessed two sections of land'. Neighborhood rumors have spread far and wide suggesting that pieces of the Oak were once a holding prison for the nearby court.
