Moonlight Ramble is the longest running evening time bicycle ride in the United States and an extraordinary wellspring of pride for St. Louis. The ride that started with one rider has developed into a yearly custom with a large number of riders rampaging of St. Louis at 12 PM under the light of the moon. In October 1964, a ride chief for the Ozark Area Council of American Youth Hostels the herald of Gateway Council, HI-USA, coordinated a metropolitan evening bike ride, beginning at 12 PM at St. Louis Union Station. Sadly, nobody else appeared, so they were the sole member in the primary ramble. Moonlight Ramble attempted again the following year and a couple of more individuals appeared.
