They genuinely take pride in their Made in Canada lures. Using separate dies for each size of spoon, each Len Thompson lure is punched out of solid brass rolls. Len Thompson bought this old punch press for $711 in 1945, and it is still operating strong today. The lures arrive with very rough edges, which are smoothed out with a variety of tumblers and polishing agents. The lures are loaded onto spherical trays after they have been polished and varnished. They use airbrushing for all of their painting. The No. 13 lures seen above have previously been painted with a white base coat. Although some designs (or layers) are done fully free-hand, stencils are employed to apply their retail patterns. Each color is applied individually. After they've been painted, the lures are stacked onto trays and baked in a massive industrial oven. The paint hardens and sets as a result of the heat.
