The Blaine family of Coloma, Michigan, owns Lakeside Books. Lakeside Books began as Ambis Enterprises in 2008 as an online hobby in a small room in their basement. It is a true grassroots effort. They opened their doors as a small new and used bookstore in May 2010 in downtown Coloma, across from the LOMA Theater, after quickly outgrowing their own space. Six months later, they opened a second location in the Benton Harbor, Michigan, The Orchards Mall. They decided in the spring of 2012, as a result of the growth of the internet, to concentrate all of their efforts in The Orchards Mall and add a second warehouse operation to their online presence. They realigned once more in 2014, closing their Mall store and going entirely online due to the explosive growth of e-commerce.
