About Colling Wood Norris Design
Flora, based in Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, is a knitwear designer, maker, and mender. All of their life, they've been fascinated by textiles, particularly knitwear. Subsequent to graduating with top notch respects in Plan for Materials in 2009, they worked independent in different knitwear jobs prior to sending off Colling Wood Norris Design in 2016. In addition to teaching at Heriot Watt University and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, their freelance work has included designing swatches, creating catwalk pieces for Christopher Kane, Jasper Conran, and House of Holland, and designing hand knit and crochet patterns for a yarn company. They make Colling Wood Norris Design knitwear in small batches at one of their local factories in Hawick or in their Galashiels studio using hand-powered knitting machines. They value local knowledge and craftsmanship. The knitter's name appears on the label of each garment made in the studio.
