This is a very special single malt liquor, containing rare alcohol, which is extracted from barley grown at Easter Elchies estate and distilled only once a year in a week. Created by whiskey maker Sarah Burgess, McCullen House celebrates the unparalleled origin and inheritance of single malt whiskey. The 2010 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru opens with an explosive fragrance of dark red fruits, mint, flowers and graphite. Cool mineral breath runs through it, giving a sense of urgency. The last touch of plum and black cherry adds a strong, layered aftertaste to this strong, dark aroma. It was an impressive performance.
