Through the friendly interpretation of the artistic team from the Hummel Manufaktur, Hummel Gifts achieved worldwide fame as a wonderfully talented children's painter. Her sketches, drawings, and paintings serve as the foundation for the figures and relief items named after her. She was born in 1909 in Bavaria, and even as a child, she displayed a tremendous creative talent. She enrolled as a student at the Academy of Applied Arts in Munich in 1927, when she was 18 years old. Hummel Gifts met two Franciscan nuns from the Württemberg Convent of Siessen here. Berta Hummel made the decision to spend her life in a monastery and joined the convent in April 1931 due to her friendship with the two sisters and the idea of combining art and religion in her future work. She was clothed in August 1933, and she was given the name Sister Maria Innocentia. She made her religious vows on August 30, 1934.
