About Great Divide
In the late 1980s, Brian Dunn, founder of the Great Divide, spent five years building farms overseas in developing countries. Dunn grew up in a family that valued food and drinks, and during his travels he increased his knowledge and enthusiasm for beer. Dunn eventually returned to Colorado, started brewing and went to graduate school. When he graduated in 1993, the Denver beer scene hardly existed, and he began to look for one of the most decorated and celebrated craft breweries in the United States. Starting with marketing research and business planning, Dunn saw an opportunity to soon become a unique, balanced and delicious beer brewing near Denver's baseball stadium. With the help of family, friends and loans from Denver, his dream of commercial brewing came true in 1994. Great Divide was born.
