The Zurschmeide family has been farming in Louden County since the 1970s, and it was founded in 1993 by Louden's second generation Zurschmeide. The farm began with a community-supported agricultural project that has been developing for many years and providing agricultural products to families as far away as Alexander and Arlington. In 1996 and 2007, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce voted for "Great Country Farms" as "Agribusiness of the Year" in recognition of its innovation, Instead of selling and planting houses, the unique effort to cultivate in difficult climates.
