About Ewbecks

Ewbecks, which opened on Main Street in Sykesville, Maryland, in 1992 and was started by brothers Scott and Brian Beck, has been serving good food to good friends for 30 years. Ewbecks exemplifies a family's belief in kindness and generosity as well as their love of food. Scott and Brian gave the restaurant its name in honor of their father, Ernest William Beck, Jr, as well as their grandparents, Ernest William and Ernst Wilhelm. During the day, their grandfather worked as a truck driver for Shell Oil and bartended in the evenings. He was a kind, easygoing man who welcomed and accompanied everyone who entered his home. Granddad Beck bought a neighborhood tavern in Lansdowne, Maryland, gave it the name Ernie's Tavern because he was liked by most people he met.
