About Dyspraxia
In 1995, parents and other relatives of children with them formed Dyspraxia. The organization now operates under the name Dyspraxia, providing a variety of services and supports to adults and young people with them, as well as to their loved ones. They also collaborate with educators, psychologists, occupational therapists, mental health professionals, and employers who support individuals with them. Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), more commonly referred to as dyspraxia, is a complex neurological condition that affects children's and adults' fine and/or gross motor skills, motor planning, and coordination. It is not related to intelligence, but it can sometimes affect cognitive skills. It is essential to assist in preventing the potential negative developmental trajectories and psychosocial consequences associated with DCD by early identifying and treating children who have the disorder or are at risk for developing it (Zwicker et al, 2021).
