About De Ponte Cellars
One of the oldest vineyards in the Willamette Valley is located at De Ponte Cellars. The Baldwin family purchased this picturesque property in the Dundee Hills in 1999, and shortly thereafter, they were established. Shirley Baldwin, the Baldwin family's matriarch, is the source of the name De Ponte. Her father, who cultivated grapes and produced his own wine in California's San Joaquin Valley, was given the name De Ponte, which is her Portuguese maiden name. In 2001, they released its first Pinot Noir to widespread acclaim. This wine exemplifies the dedication of the Baldwin family and its French winemaker, Isabelle Dutartre, to producing exceptional wines. Dutartre learned how to make wine in her native France, the Burgundy region, and each vintage reflects her unwavering dedication to tradition and quality. De Ponte Cellars is known for its Melon, in addition to its Pinot Noir. The original growers of the vines believed that they would yield Pinot Blanc grapes, but they were mistaken.
