On August 18, 1924, the Aladdin Theater was officially opened to the public, showing silent movies. As the owners changed over the years, the theater featured juggling performances, which served as a station for the American Red Cross during the war, and later became the National Theater, showing movies on "big screens." Cocoa Village Playhouse began producing community-based musicals in 1989 and performed by local volunteers. In 1991, the playground was included in the Tallahassee National Historic Site List, and the official company name became a historic playground. It started with 8 young people and now has more than 264 participants each season, from the age of 7 to high school graduation.
