Christmas in Color opened Christmas at Color in 2010 because they couldn't find any African American nutcracker to add to their holiday decorations. They started searching the Internet and found few holiday decorations like it. Although there are many decorations depicting angels, Santa Claus and nutcracker with Caucasian features, there are few other skin tone items. In order to give their children and other families a chance to get holiday decorations similar to theirs, they decided to start a business selling nutcrackers, angels and Christmas in Color in different colors. The nutcracker prince's hair was black and he wore white trousers tucked into his black boots. He was wearing a red coat with gold embellishments and gold rhinestones as buttons. The cuffs of the jacket are purple.
