Brand-X-Toxic, toxic, and High Energy are a part of skateboard history. Atlantic Skates was the first skateboard distributor and supplier in the world. It was founded by Dorsey Truitt in the early 1970s. With the introduction of the High Energy Skateboards line in 1981, Atlantic Skates began manufacturing skateboards for Kryptonics. The following year, in 1986, Dorsey acquired Brand-X-Toxic skateboards from Bernie Tostenson, who had founded the business in 1983. Then, in 1988, Dorsey established Toxic Skates as a spin-off of Norm Hamilton's demo skate group Team Toxic. With Atlantic Skates' global manufacturing and distribution power and under Dorsey's direction, Atlantic Skates remained the world's largest distributor of skateboarding products well into the 1990s, helping Toxic, Brand-X, and High Energy become major global brands.
