Over the course of four decades, Bloodaxe Books has changed poetry publishing in Britain. Their authors and books have won nearly every major poetry award, from the T. S. Eliot Prize, Costa Book of the Year, and Pulitzer Prize to the Nobel Prize in Literature. They are known worldwide for the quality of their literature and their books. Additionally, the Staying Alive anthology series has opened up contemporary poetry to thousands of new readers, which is groundbreaking. Bloodaxe Books is able to publish up to thirty new books a year, including poetry in translation and proportionally more collections by women poets than any other British imprint, thanks to grants from Arts Council England. These books come from a bold and diverse group of new and established writers from Britain, Ireland, America, and many other countries.
