About Black Belt Mag
Black Belt Mag is the world's leading self-defense magazine dedicated to the eclectic mix of classical and modern martial arts. The content includes interviews with the world's most renowned martial artists and historical works of various combat-style philosophies, as well as in-depth reports on the latest technologies, weapons, self-defense systems, training programs and industry trends. The first issue of it magazine was published in 1961 by Japanese Americans in aikido, kendo, judo and other artistic fields, later known as jeet kune do. Mito Uyehara, based in southern California, envisions a national publication that would help spread the Asian martial arts he knows well to the American public. As publications grow over the next few years, so will the popularity of American martial arts. Black Belt Mag quickly consolidated its status as a perennial on newsstands across the country.
