About Belmontmarket
When a new independent supermarket opens its doors halfway between a thriving Shaw's and Super Stop & Shop, the chances of it succeeding in a small New England town are slim to none. However, the oddsmakers didn't take Jack Siravo into account. He has transformed Belmont Fruit, the seasonal fruit stand owned by his family's wholesale and produce business, into Belmont Market, Wakefield, Rhode Island's premier supermarket shopping experience. Belmontmarket was named after New York's renowned Belmont Park racetrack by Siravo's grandfather, "a great aficionado of the ponies. It was established in 1947 as a seasonal fruit and vegetable stand. Not only are items like the scones made from scratch in-store, but Belmont Market also features products delivered from Rhode Island's best bakeries, making it the best bakery in town. Belmontmarket produce is frequently fresher than that of chain stores because it operates its own wholesale operation and sources locally whenever possible.
