Army Flying Museum is located in Mid Wallop, near Andover, Hampshire. Army Flying Museum tells the story of the British Army from early military balloon flights to the modern Army Air Corps. The series started at RAF Andover in 1946 but later moved to Middle Wallop and first opened to the public in 1974. More than 40 planes can be seen. From World War I biplanes to Cobra Ray attack helicopters, plus every glider used by the Allies during World War II. Highlights of the series include a Sopwith Pup (an example of a single-seat fighter introduced in 1916) and a Lynx helicopter, which broke the world speed record in 1972, reaching an average speed of 199.92 in a 100-kilometer closed-circuit flight mph.
