Archipelago Books is a non-profit publishing house dedicated to publishing excellent translations of world classics and contemporary literature. In the first 18 years, they published nearly 200 books in more than 35 languages. The artistic exchange between cultures is an important aspect of global understanding: literature can be used as a catalyst to eliminate stereotypes and reveal the common humanity among people of different nationalities, cultures and backgrounds. Hearing voices from all over the world in this country has never been more important than it is now. Sadly, less than 3% of new literary works published in the United States are from outside the Anglo cultural circle. By publishing diversified and innovative literary translation works, Archipelago Books is doing everything they can to change this sad situation and broaden the horizons of American literature.
