World War II just ended in 1945, Andy And Bax opened under the name "Great Hawthorne Surplus" and sold wartime surpluses, guns, ammunition, tarpaulins, rubber life rafts and almost anything you can think of. In 1956, they moved to the 1234 S.E. Alliance and changed their name to Andy And Bax. They began to convert old military rubber boats into white water boats.
