In search of a better life, their grandfather left Italy in the late 1800s for America. He moved north and settled in the Branchville neighborhood of Ridgefield, Connecticut, after passing through Ellis Island. He bought land and opened a general store with money he earned working in a nearby wire mill. Their mother, Carol, helped their father move the store from its original 500 square feet to its current 4, 000 square feet in 1980. They were able to expand their options when they moved to a larger location. Ancona's Winecelebrated its 85th anniversary in 2018 and opened Ancona's Wine third location in the heart of Ridgefield. In 2009, they opened their second location and the first package store in Wilton, CT. Today, they and their team continue the family tradition by providing a one-of-a-kind, enjoyable experience with each bottle.
