Scott and his sisters Abby and Jody James agreed that the air plants growing in the sweltering oak trees of south Florida were beautiful, but too much trouble. "Airplantshop used to climb trees at 99 degrees and 98 percent humidity, and then pull on giant air plants so mom could decorate backyard parties with them," Abby recalled with a smile. Mom's decorating philosophy later became Scott's business philosophy when he realized that most Americans were unfamiliar with hundreds of majestic tropical air plant varieties that could easily be grown indoors, even in colder outdoor homes. Airplantshop have been working with Pencils of Promise since July 2016. With each order they will make a donation of $1. 00 to their Pencils of Promise fund. Since the program began, they have donated more than $55,000.
